MACA has had tremendous influence on state laws affecting the collection industry. Our active legislative committee is comprised of industry leaders whose combined expertise have resulted in favorable outcomes in state legislatures, and regulatory agencies.

Among these accomplishments have been the establishment of the Pennsylvania Debt Collection Trade Practice Regulation (1980), amendment of the Pennsylvania Goods and Services Installment Sales Act (1982), the Pennsylvania Bad Check Law of 1987, The Pennsylvania Right of Assignment Law of 1990, and successful passage of the Pennsylvania Fair Credit Uniformity Act.

In Maryland, the committee's efforts regularly result in successful defeat of numerous, anti-business bills that if passed, would have serious impact on the way Maryland agencies operate.
